Howl opens in

Dating, but private.

A dating app for people who hate dating apps. Opens nightly. Closes at sunrise. No permanent profile. No curation. Just real humans, verified by selfie, talking for the next 24 hours — or never again.

Four reasons Howl exists

Everything dating apps got wrong, fixed.

We're not iterating on Tinder. We threw the playbook out.

No. 01

No permanent profile.

No biography. No "what I'm looking for." No five photos curated to a personality. Sign up, snap a selfie, and you're in. Your profile disappears at sunrise — and so does everyone else's.

No. 02

No curation. No algorithm.

No questionnaire. No "what's your love language." No prompts that turn dating into a personality test. Real people. Real conversations. The same chaos and chance you'd find walking into a bar at 9pm — but in your pocket.

No. 03

Opens nightly. Closes at sunrise.

Howl is only live during a set window every night — the hours when you'd actually go out. When it closes, your matches reset, your messages expire, and the app shuts off. Tomorrow is a new night with new people.

No. 04

Selfie-verified humans only.

To enter Howl, you snap a live selfie. Every night. No old photos. No catfish. No bots. If you can't take a selfie right now, you can't get in. Stale profiles don't exist on Howl — because profiles don't exist on Howl.

A night on Howl

The howl hour.

Every night, when the sun goes down, the doors open. Here's what one cycle looks like.

5:00pm Doors open

Howl unlocks. Take your selfie. Step inside.

9:00pm Peak crowd

The pack is out. Matches start flying.

1:00am Last call

Make your move. The room is closing.

2:00am Doors close

Howl shuts down. Your conversations live on for 24h.

Sunrise Reset

Matches clear. Messages expire. New night, new pack.

Dating apps turned love into a content feed. Howl turns it back into a night out.

How Howl works

Four steps. Then put the phone down.

01

Download Howl

Free on iOS and Android. No paid tier. No subscription. No swipe limits to upsell you on.

02

Step inside

When Howl opens tonight, take a live selfie. That's your only profile. No bio, no prompts, no questions about your sun sign.

03

Find someone real

See who's out tonight in your area. Match. Talk. The conversation is yours for the next 24 hours.

04

Take it offline

Plan to meet. Then close the app. Howl exists so you can stop spending your night on a screen.

Questions

Asked & answered.

Wait — there's no profile? At all?
Right. No bio, no prompts, no photo gallery, no "looking for." Just your live selfie from that night. The whole point is to recreate what it's like to walk into a room full of strangers — where you don't get to read someone's life story before saying hi.
Why does the app close every night?
Because bars close. Clubs close. Real-world dating has a rhythm. Howl runs on that rhythm — open when people are out, closed when they're not. It also forces you to actually use the conversation while you have it, instead of letting a match sit in your inbox for three weeks.
What happens to my matches and messages?
Matches reset every morning. Messages expire after 24 hours. If you didn't make plans in that window, you start fresh tomorrow. It sounds harsh but it's actually the most freeing thing about Howl — nothing lingers, nothing haunts you.
How do I know people are real?
You have to take a live selfie to enter Howl every night — not upload a photo from your camera roll, take one right then with the front-facing camera. If you can't take it right now, you don't get in. No stale photos, no catfish, no bots. Just verified humans.
Is Howl really free?
Yes. Free on iOS and Android. No premium tier hiding the good matches behind a paywall, no swipe limits, no "boost" you have to buy. The whole business model of paid dating apps is dystopian and we're not running that play.
What about my privacy? What data do you collect?
As little as possible. We don't sell data. We don't build personality profiles on you. Your selfies aren't stored long-term — they're used to verify you that night and then aged out. We're a dating app, not a surveillance company. Read our full privacy stance →
What hours is Howl open?
The Howl window runs nightly. Local opening time is set to your timezone — generally early evening through late night, so you can fit Howl in around dinner, drinks, or actually being out somewhere. Exact times appear in-app and on this page (see the live countdown above).
Where is Howl available?
We're launching market-by-market to keep the rooms full. Check the app for current cities. If we're not in yours yet, drop your zip in our contact form — we use those signals to decide where we open next.
